The symphony “season” is well underway in La Porte, IN. Hoosier Star kicked off the fundraising arm in September raising ten’s of thousands of dollars for the educational programs for La Porte County Symphony. The Children’s Concert taught close to 6,000 students about the rich musical and historical history of Indiana. The Enchanted Voyage cruise kicked off in grand style last Saturday night with superb playing by symphony soloists Kathryn Brtko, English Horn and  Charles Steck, trumpet in Copland’s A Quiet City. Latin Rhythms was a delightful showcase for Xel-Ha Escuela de DanzaMariachi Acerto, Blue Moon Dance and the Symphony.

The orchestra’s rendition of Symphonic Dances from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein will be talked about for years to come: such artistry, energy and emotion. I am so proud of the orchestra, the Board of Directors and all those who have invested in the orchestra. The musicianship continues on an upward trajectory improving the quality of life for the entire community.  BRAVO LCSO!
